Chengdu Tianfu Greenway

The Chengdu Tianfu Greenway "strings together" numerous parks like a chain, connecting every corner of the city and weaving a shared vision of a better life for its residents. Today, it has become one of Chengdu’s most popular outdoor leisure destinations, drawing countless visitors to embrace the beauty of spring.

As the first rays of morning sunlight pierce through the mist, the greenway welcomes its early risers—joggers, cyclists, and leisurely strollers—all basking in its tranquility. More than just a defining feature of Chengdu’s "park city" identity, the Tianfu Greenway proves that even amid towering skyscrapers, urban dwellers can find green spaces to reconnect with nature. A mere few steps away from the concrete jungle, one can immerse themselves in a lush, vibrant world.

By linking parks across the city, the greenway ensures nature’s embrace is never far. Each park offers unique charms, enriching residents’ lives with diverse green experiences. In the new urban area, parks like Jincheng Park, Guixi Ecological Park, and Jiaozi Park blend seamlessly with the cityscape, creating a distinctive urban aesthetic. Jiaozi Park, for instance, caters to the financial elite with sleek, tech-infused sports facilities and subtle nods to local history, merging leisure with culture. Meanwhile, Jincheng Lake Park thrives as a waterfront hub, where kayaking and paddleboarding transform it into a lively aquatic playground.

To date, Chengdu has built approximately 6,500 kilometers of greenways at all levels, complemented by over 3,500 cultural, tourism, sports, and tech facilities. With 95.88% coverage of service radius and 1,500+ parks, the city’s green network is thriving. The 100-kilometer primary greenway in the Ring Eco-Zone is fully connected, flanked by 18 thematic parks and 54 forested scenic spots, painting a vision of "a ribbon of riverside beauty uniting the city." By 2035, the system will stretch 16,900 kilometers, potentially becoming the world’s longest greenway—a vast network interlinking greenspaces, forests, lakes, rivers, and villages, while integrating recreation, commerce, and agriculture.

In spring, the Tianfu Greenway embodies the harmony between city and nature. Here, amid blooming vistas and leisurely pursuits, visitors witness the fruits of Chengdu’s ecological efforts. Beyond scenery, they can dive into folk activities, intangible cultural heritage, and iconic local cuisine.

With the greenway as its canvas and spring as its muse, Chengdu’s interconnected urban beauty unfolds—a poetic skyline unique to the "City of Hibiscus."
